WHAT'S ONE PIECE OF ADVICE YOU HAVE FOR WEARING JEWELRY?
I really like to layer my necklaces but if I want to do a statement earring I will remove the necklaces as I believe less is more. However when it comes to rings I generally wear one or two on almost every finger all in solid gold featuring a variety of stones such as Sapphires, Citrine, Spinel and Diamonds.
WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE IN THE CREATIVE PROCESS FOR HOLLY RYAN JEWELRY & SCULPTURES? ARE BOTH PRE-DETERMINED OR DO YOU TRUST THE PROCESS OF CREATION?
I always trust in the process of creation, I tend not to ever stay fixed to ideas and concepts and to let the process be as organic as possible by picking up my tools and just having a go and seeing what happens naturally.
SOCIAL MEDIA HAS BEEN A KEY DRIVER FOR YOUR BUSINESS WITH EVERY GIRL EXCITED TO POST AND SHARE THEIR HOLLY RYAN PIECE, IS THERE EVER PRESSURE TO CREATE THOSE "INSTA WORTHY" PIECES?
I don’t ever really design for anyone but myself, which perhaps seems very insular but really I just want to make the pieces I want to wear that I can’t find elsewhere. I am very grateful for the support on Instagram, I don’t think my brand would be where it is today without that loyal following.
WHAT IS THE INSPIRATION BEHIND YOUR CURRENT COLLECTION?
My new collection is a step forward for the brand, a focus on engagement and wedding ring styles ahead of opening our showroom by appointment. I was experiencing huge growth in this sector for my brand, creating more and more custom pieces for clients and so felt it was time to make this kind of design work available publicly.
WHAT MATERIALS WHEN CREATING JEWELRY DO YOU LOVE TO WORK WITH?
I love 14ct yellow gold as it is a nice soft yellow in comparison to 18ct, I am obsessed with blue and green Sapphires, Citrine, Moss Agate and of course, Diamonds. I like to carve a lot of my pieces from wax and then cast them to metal which is I guess where the cross over into sculpture has evolved from.
